JAMIE MCDINE, A BIOGRAPHY
After graduating from Falmouth College of Arts with BA (Hons) Broadcasting Studies in 1999, Jamie started working for BBS Productions, a Bristol based corporate video production company. Starting as a runner and learning the trade, by 2002 Jamie was working freelance as an editor and production assistant for a number of companies, as well as starting to write and produce his own short films.
His first big break came in 2002, where he directed and produced a live music video for his favourite musician Ian Brown. Years later the production still looks incredible, owing much to the camera team, tour staff and on-stage performance of the Stone Roses singer.
A series of short film festival appearances were to follow, as well as a music video documentary for rapper Just Jack, before Jamie moved to Germany in 2004. His scripts, skills and techniques were all improving and the Film Awards started to follow, including three for "Sehnsucht", his first film produced in German, and another two awards and national TV broadcast of "Weiter".
2005 saw a move into documentary with a behind-the-scenes transatlantic theatre project and a film about racism with a group of young immigrants in the city of Magdeburg. But these were to be blown away in 2006 with the production of the critically acclaimed "3 Lions, 23 Players & 100,000 Friendly Fans": an hour long film following England fans at the World Cup.
This was also the year that Jamie discovered a real passion for teaching, as he passed on his film skills to lead a class of A Level Art students, over 6 months. The project was the first of its kind in Germany and the results were such a success, that it has become the model for delivering film within the classroom.

He led school film project "Ich und die Anderen" the following winter, with 6 wonderful documentaries produced by 19 pupils, all getting a cinema screening and greatly improved school grades. He also taught bilingual film workshops in Berlin, as well as producing promotional films for the UK-German Connection and German National Tourist Office.
The release of "Blauweiss" in 2007 was met with critical acclaim, a series of sold out cinema screenings and festival appearances. The 103 minute epic, by far McDine's longest film, is without doubt his most dramatic - thanks in no small part to the fantastic support of the 1. FC Magdeburg team and fans in their incredible emotional roller coaster of a season that so nearly resulted in promotion.
Jamie was also putting his experience for corporate film production to good use, directing promotional films for the German National Tourist Office in Cologne and Bonn in 2007 and Hamburg in 2008. This was followed by four days in Berlin documenting the sensitive and emotional visit of 23 UK Jewery.
In Spring 2008 Jamie moved back to England, after four enjoyable and successful years in Magdeburg, and quickly became very involved in developing and delivering the 14-16 Creative and Media Diploma in a number of Wiltshire Schools.
In 2010 Jamie discovered a new passion behind the camera; for wedding photography and videography. He has since gone on to film and photograph over 300 weddings and is highly sought after for his beautiful work and his friendly and natural approach.
Jamie was also putting his experience for corporate film production to good use, directing promotional films for the German National Tourist Office in Cologne and Bonn in 2007 and Hamburg in 2008. This was followed by four days in Berlin documenting the sensitive and emotional visit of 23 UK Jewery.

Since 2010 Jamie has worked as artist in residence at Matravers School in Westbury and Hardenhuish School in Chippenham, bringing subjects to life with the use of film and animation. He also continues to produce promotional films for the National Trust and a number of community organisations, charities and companies across the region.
Wiltshire and Swindon History Centre have commissioned Jamie to deliver several Lottery Funded film projects, with the highlight being SEEME, which is used every year in schools and organisations across the county for Black History Month.
In his spare time he enjoys playing guitar and singing, and from 2019-2021 Jamie worked with the music charity Wiltshire Rural Music, bringing live music and music-making opportunities to isolated members of the community, as well as producing beautiful promotional films and photographs.
In 2022 Jamie qualified as a primary school teacher and is bringing lots of his skills and experience to the classroom and inspiring children in Somerset!
If he's not walking in to Frome along the river and chatting to friends and members of the local community, then Jamie may be helping with eco or growing projects, or taking a bike ride through Longleat forest to connect with nature.
He enjoys life with his two children, partner and their cockapoo at home in Frome.
